FOG Medieval: Crusades Mini Campaign

Saracens attacking ACRE again from Damascus.

Crusaders will attack HOMS from Tripoli.

@Cargol will lead that attack.

I will defend ACRE again.

Crusades Mini Turn 2AA.jpg

BATTLE 1: ACRE -- @Nathangun vs @Rico

BATTLE 2: ACRE -- @Cargol vs @chiquichops

---------------------------------------------------------------------

@Nathangun -- here the battle parameters:

Open Battle, Medium size

Map: Middle East Agricultural

Crusaders (1155-1291) -- I'll take as allies: Syrian States (1090 -1286)

MUSLIMS: Ayyubid Egyptians (1172 - 1250) with optional Syrian States (1090 -1286) allies

If you set it up, I'll pick it up in the morning.

The battle is getting pretty hot now. The Saracens have the edge, with the Christian knights yet to come into real play. However, we all know the Christian heavy cavalry can swing any battle. I did want to post screenshots to this interesting battle but I can't seem to find them.

Those Crusader knights can be total battle-winners ... or a complete fiasco... LOL ... seemingly not much middle ground there.

Screen_00000003.jpgThings are looking up for the Saracens. We are holding the Christian cavalry for now, although there is an imminent breakthrough in my middle. There's a slim chance of a major victory still. Outlying skirmishes dot the field.Screen_00000006.jpg

A Major Defeat for the Crusader armies at HOMS -- which cedes the Initiative Point to the Saracens.

The battle for ACRE ended in a Draw, which leaves the region Contested.

The Score remains unchanged.

This concludes TURN 2.

TURN 3:

The fighting in ACRE continues this turn.

The Saracens have ONE Initiative Point to use -- Sultan @chiquichops needs to decide where to attack.

We strike into Tripoli from Homs.
I'll set up as soon as it's confirmed if the defender wants allies.

Pretty good start for my Crusaders in the defence of TRIPOLI against Sultan @chiquichops 's Saracen invaders.

On the left my knights managed to overrun and rout a group of enemy archers .... while a grinding infantry melee ensues in the agricultural area in the centre.

... while on the right, a separate cavalry battle is on the go.
There are annoying patches of marsh and rough ground that is constricting movement there ... this map not an optimum patch of real estate to have a battle on.

I'm not getting to grips with the Saracens yet. I miss some good heavy infantry and some crossbows.

The Crusader armies have successfully defended TRIPOLI inflicting a Major Defeat on the attacking Saracens and also winning the Initiative Point for next turn.

@chiquichops -- fun battle -- I think the terrain worked out to be more favourable for my guys than yours.

It might have been the terrain to some degree but I really don't like the Saracen army. The infantry are unreliable, no crossbows at this stage and horse archers just have to carry all the weight. Give me another six turns and I'll get my head around them though LoL

Ps. well played by @Rico too and an enjoyable, if frustrating, battle though.
