Another kit I put together pretty quick....its an old 70's Monogram kit that doesn't fit especially well, but it's not too bad. 1/72 scale
The Twin Mustang was originally supposed to escort Superfortress bombers on their longest ranged missions, but the war ended just as it was being deployed. However, in its night fighter guise, it served well in the Korean War, and actually scored the first aerial kills of the conflict.
My model is an F-82G night fighter....all the radar equipment is in the bulbous torpedo-like appendage extending forward from the centre wing. It makes a distinctive and very unusual subject.
US aircraft of the time used quite pristine gloss finishes, so mine is fairly shiny. There is a little bit of pre-shading underneath, but you can't really see it in the photos.
Photos are a bit grainy...might see if I can do some better ones.
