Ha! That's what I was thinking, it's probably some corporal's job shining the generals helmet every morning and god help him if he missed a spot. Military Bullshi*t.
But then again, perhaps it beats being somewhere on the line in a muddy foxhole being shot at. :unsure:
 
Interesting pic of a "Squirrel Cage Jeep". It is a continuous netted belt that goes completely over and under a Willys Jeep to spread its weight while driving over soft ground. You really wouldn't want to drive this without the canvas up, as it dumped mud on top of the Jeep as it went. o_O
The "Squirrel Cage Jeep" did indeed improve floatation, but it was unwieldy and prevented steering, so it was abandoned.
