**NSFW** Australia Appreciation Thread

99% of our work is delivering diesel to mine sites, who use it to run their mining equipment and provide their electrical power.

As many of these sites are remote they have to generate their own electricity and make their own water (bores > desalination), so they need a lot of diesel to make all that happen.

Update just dropped...

I'm off today, but have local deliveries on friday (that'll be fun), and don't know about saturday yet.
Talking to the boss yesterday he mused that if this keeps up we might have to adjust our hours to shut down during the afternoons, and only driving and unloading at night and in the morning. The beauty of mine site deliveries is we can go there 24/7 as they never shut down.

It's not just easier for the drivers, but also much easier on the trucks and road as well, parts of the road were pretty much liquid yesterday with so much weight pounding on hot bitumen. My combination is about 165 tons loaded, but there's now super and ultra quad road trains running up and down the same road too, the biggest of which weigh about 200 tons.
Also being so hot, the engines burn more fuel and don't produce as much power, and tyres blow out more easily as well - and one place nobody wants to be is changing out a tyre in 45 degrees!
