Maybe California has the PT Barnum of electorates...”There’s a sucker born every minute”.
@mTk Come to Tennessee. Wife and I will put you up for a few days in our spare bedroom. We have hydroelectric and nuclear power here....that should tickle your fancy! We are a little backwards, what with our guns and chewing tobacco and all, but you'll get used to it.
Should give it some thought.
Large fire (10,000 acres) started in Sonoma County (north) last night.
News says unusually BIG winds coming Saturday so I will for sure be down indefinitely then.
It is just crazy. California winds are FAR lower than winds in virtually any other state. But our electrical wires are REALLY fragile for some reason. And we pay the highest amount for electricity of any state in the union.
Look for another huge utility rate increase and the problem not getting solved. This is the "CA Pattern" for water, the homeless, poverty, crime, traffic congestion, etc..
If I could I'd be there tomorrow.
As it is we just made reservations at a Holiday Inn for a couple of nights starting this Saturday. It's in San Mateo which is right across the hills (aka Santa Cruz Mts) from Montara near the airport. Lots of great restaurants (Izzy's Steak House comes to mind) and cool bars. Get to take long, comfy naps and get in some reading time for my current fav series "Marius' Mules."
Loss of power is seriously inconvenient, but does not necessarily have to be uncomfortable. It's good to be "retired guy."
