CM:BN Vehicile pack out... lobster of doom

Thanks Nelson1812. Unzipping the download to the desktop (rather than into the CMBN file) made all the difference. From there, everything appeared to extract and work smoothly. Also, I am glad I saved all my activation codes. I think I am all patched up.

All the activation keys are saved in your BFC account in the store section ;)

does this affect any pbem battles being played at the moment

yes it does, I can't play a 3.10 pbem game, the file is in the correct folder but it'snt listed in the "saved game/incoming email" in the game.
I can't go on until I've bought the vehicle pack including the patch or I wait until the free upgrade comes out.

The Vehicle Pack requires the base game upgraded to v3.0 but no other modules (however, to access module specific vehicles, that module is required; for example, you can’t access the British vehicles if you only have the base game and no modules).

I' don't have any additional module, so all the British and Commonwealth vehicles are blocked.

Patch v3.11 released. This will bring the Vehicle Pack for everybody (at least in multiplayer), something which has been hinted at in some statements from BFC on their own forum.
They have completely changed the way modules / packs are activated now, with only one Exe (CM Normandy.exe) and no Module executables anymore.

One advice:

No matter if you only have the 3.0 upgrade or also the vehicle pack, do yourself a favour and just download the whole 1,1GB files package and do the patch install. I think it will prevent some trouble which could happen if you're trying to guess which files you already have and which ones you still need.

I'm not convinced of that. I think there is everything installed, but you can only play the bought!
Yep. You have to be right Berto. Otherwise how would your game have the .brz files necessary to model the new vehicles? My opponent would have them but I would not if I did not have the pack. Curious as to how they plan on getting this to work. I understood it like MM that even though you did not have the pack you could still play someone multiplayer who does. Probably with the exception that both players must have those vehicles.

Edit: Ok. Reread some posts over at BF and it looks as if the new vehicle files would have to be included in the new patch or something. They state that when playing MP the vehicles WILL be available to both parties even if only one paid for it. So, the only way this would be possible is to have the files in the patch but only unlocked when playing MP. Playing with the new vehicles in single player would not be possible if you did not pay. I think I just confused myself even more.

Yeah initially I thought it was like what Bohemia did with ARMA II. There were 'light versions' of the DLC for people who didn't want to pay for it but could still play with players who did and used those pieces of kit. Now I'm just confused.

Not really going to effect me since I buy all their CM releases anyway but it could get really bad for new players coming into the fold. Little niggling feeling I have makes me think maybe the whole module, upgrade, pack system is starting to cause a lot of work and effort and BF could be rethinking their product makeup. What ever happened to 'Expansion Packs.' You paid a decent price but get a whole lot of stuff at once rather than dribs and drabs. Updating and bug fixing with so many combinations of products users may have is going to be a nightmare.

I hear you Ithikial. I said that from the get go. I too would rather wait longer and have them pack more quality stuff into each release. Would give us more time to play the current games. Seems like as we get settled into one another one comes out.

My take is spend more time on updating the game. Lets get the current bugs squashed and improve the AI, interface, graphics, or other gameplay things. Lets get the current game running as best as possible before we go and keep on adding more content. I know some are about to shoot me for saying that but that is OK if you are OK with the current state of the game.

BFC should have taken a page from Eagle Dynamics and switched to a DCS World type model instead of this lame buy the same upgrades for each title. Of course then they couldn't triple dip people for the same stuff, but it would have been much more efficient from their PoV to have a single, constantly updated CMx2 core that ALL of the games plug into. Charge for the core too, I don't care. Anything but this cluster they're foisting on everyone. They seriously need to get their heads out of their asses.

Fully agree with that point (my bold bit of your post): I've actually said that right from the beginning on the BF forums, but they do seem hard to give advice to at times ... (probably like me :D)

If they were NOT upgrading each title engine - and so the CMBN engine, say, stayed the same, and CMBN perhaps just had "vehicle packs" added to it over time - I can see some logic in keeping multiple engines; they are only ever developing whatever is the current title.

But given that they ARE continuing to upgrade them all - and that is great for all of us, and I am happy to pay for them - then in essence there really IS only one current "state of the art" engine, but they have to keep on upgrading, and we have to keep on buying and patching, multiple instances of it ...

One engine, with free patches for bugs etc and paid-for upgrades for developments, with "theatre packs" of content for whichever area and forces you want to play, seems like a no brainer, for everyone: simpler for BF to maintain, and for us users to manage ...??
