BTR-4E - descent gun, can't really spot much.
Go either with BMP-2 or BTR-4E depending on how many points you want to spend on ifv.
All laser guided ATGMs trigger laser warning and tanks backing out. Look for those that are wire guided and take the one with the largest warhead.
Check out the recon battalion - a lot if infantry. You'll need to attach artillery and ATGMs to it.
Call times for off map mortars are really big - 8 min vs 4 for on map.
Don't forget ti distribute the ammo from your ifv and trucks to your infantry.
 
Nice... Im up against Russian tanks so I'm trying to put some kit together... I noticed the Shurm- S can't spot worth shit...

2 min with a spotter with assets on map.
4 min 120mm mortars off map
trp's are fast 2 min
 
that is a very big question..... equipment is all very similar to the russian....... he will have access to bmp3 and you will only access bmp2 if u take them.....maybe Bradley spoiled me but both models of bmp all i see is big gun thin skin lots of ammo that makes a big enough explosion to take out a tank if it happens to be close if/when bmp gets KO'ed ......

the btr4e is a good vehicle probably your best bet.. of course suffers same problem all infantry fighting vehicles have...you cant win a slugging match with any of them

Ukrainian tanks are actually pretty good.... my opinion the b-lot at least equal to t-72b3 .... and op-lot equal to t 90

my humble opinion Ukr vs Rus.. pretty even in the game....bmp3 is better.... but it is vulnerable........

TAKE TUNGUSKA'S at least 2...... great anti-infantry ... anti-APC... they turn tanks into mobile MG bunkers......... plus can shoot down enemy air......... only flaw the have is ammo count

Just finished a 1300M AT range test...

The Corsair spots the fastest out of all the AT assets...
Has a fast flight time...
Tank smoke screen lasts 3 turns wind conditions may vary...
Reactive armour lasts 2-3 hits then it's done if from the same attack angle...

An impressive test. My men were behind a low bocage and only 1 tank spotted my units and returned fire on the causing min casualties.

All AT units were Crack +1 +1
All Armour units were Vet +1 +1

been a really long time since i dug around any in the ukraine force selector .... let me know how it goes
 
Oplots are good
So are Korsar ATGMs
Your infantry are basically equipped the same as Russian forces. Take every RGP round you can.
Oplots spot better when they are stationary just like a T72 or T90...that is because they all use a variation of the Catherine-Thales thermal system which isnt so good when moving.
BTR -4E are nice but fragile to save points you might want to take BTR60s and use them as battle taxis only.
 
let me let u pick a side and type of battle leaving the US out of it for the time being...

a couple of house rules i like but are not deal breakers are..

fire support from formation tab (arty and air) limit of 2.. either 2 arty 2 air or 1 of each this includes the attached arty from task force or battalion tac group tabs if u want air subtract an arty
it does not include organic mortars already in battalion or company T.O.E.s and they can either be on or off map....

attaching or subtracting units or vehicles is absolutely fine but stay within the spirit of what is meant to be there....example of attaching a tank to a scout car platoon is fine...... try not to have a frankensteins monster ... lol

for any attack/assault/probe battle i think there is logical and gameplay sense with
attacker gets preplanned arty from turn 1.... planning any attack the commander if possible would pick out somewhere he would want suppressed ........... attacker does not get any TRP's .... i know it is possible real world but gameplay??
defender gets no preplanned arty.... because you would not know when attack is coming... the defender does get all the TRPs they want though
both sides can have preplanned air starting on minute 1..... under the condition that if the defender does use it minute 1 keep it well outside attacker set up zone ..... defender preplanned air anything goes from minute 5

meeting engagements
neither side gets preplanned arty ...... neither side gets TRPs
both sides get preplanned air......but not until 5 minute mark

let me know which side you want excluding US for the moment already have a few going with them

Just double checking the fire support rules..

If a battalion has arty say mortars you can only add 1 additional for a max of 2?
As well no purchasing additional individual mortar assets on the squad/platoon level..
 
I like the Russian equipment. It is definitely different from the US and of a lower quality. Still quite functional. You just have to find ways to use it.
