A hydropowered scoopwheel used by the ancient Romans at the Rio Tinto mines in Spain.
To remove water from deep underground mines, the Romans used no less than 16 wheels working in pairs and stacked above one another.
The wheels could lift water from 80 meters below the surface.

Interesting stuff indeed. I think Riotinto is still a copper mine today.
 
1913: When Hitler, Trotsky, Tito, Freud and Stalin all lived together in Vienna

Stalin Hitler Franz Josef Freud Trotsky & Tito walked the same streets in Vienna 1913. The emigres drank in the same cafes & would have seen the Kaiser driven thru the streets.
But only Stalin & Trotsky met & hated each other.

Interesting indeed. It was a time heralding great changes in the world.
Stalin eventually got to Trotsky in Mexico, 1940. He must've really disliked him to hold a grudge for that long.
