Interesting stuff indeed. I think Riotinto is still a copper mine today.A hydropowered scoopwheel used by the ancient Romans at the Rio Tinto mines in Spain.
To remove water from deep underground mines, the Romans used no less than 16 wheels working in pairs and stacked above one another.
The wheels could lift water from 80 meters below the surface.
Didn't think this was still possible!
