Hi guys.
I understand that the subject of the coronavirus is at this date of our knowledge. So I would like to ask you how you are handling this problem? Are they taking preventive measures? Were there victims in your cities?
In my country, as of today, there were 31 cases, almost all of people who were recently in Europe / Asia. And a single deceased, 64, who had been in France.
Sports and social events with the public have been suspended, flights to certain parts of the world have been canceled, all foreigners arriving here must undergo a fourteen-day quarantine. Hell, it's a problem that started to seriously worry me.

Greetings and take care

In Germany the situation is getting worse.
We have about 3000 positiv tested cases and many more infected which are not tested yet. The testing capacity is limited.
Nearly all sport and cultural events are closed, the schools are in some areas closed and in the other parts (Germany is a federal republic) are going to get closed in the next days. Whoever is able is staying home. Doctors and medical worker are at the frontline, retired doctors will be drafted again. The discipline and moral is still high, but fear is spreading everywhere.
The health system in Germany is good quality, but if the cases will increase, which is certain, it will get worse. We are heading into a disaster.
The stock market (DAX) has crashed from about 14000 Points to 9200 Points.

I wish everyone around the globe best of luck and stay healthy!

Here is a clip of an expert on infectious diseases discussing the situation on the Joe Rogan podcast. Joe, wisely, lets the expert do most of the talking. Well worth 15 minutes of your time.

As for me, I work in a large hospital with direct patient contact. I fully expect to be infected at some point. Fortunately, I'm 54, don't smoke, and am otherwise healthy, so hopefully I won't come down with a serious case.

Yesterday the government here ordered all events with more than 500 people attending cancelled.

Also here's a theme song for the thread

Its freaking me out... the UK is pretty much doing nothing. Nearest case to me is like 500 metres away.... urgh.

And because I work for the police Im getting battered with status updates, contingency plans, standard operating procedures yada yada...

Just no getting away from this.. if I dint have bills to pay I would take the family of to the highlands for a couple of months.

Large gatherings are banned now in Ireland. As I drive a taxi and take care of my 81 year old mum I've had to cut my working hours but not for long as I'm self employed, a real pickle.
I wear surgical gloves and take preventive measures but it's an airborne disease. I have a gas mask knocking about somewhere, I should wear that but might freak people out.

Here in deep south, we are all holding our breaths to see what develops ... so far 24 confirmed cases -- all people who've travelled to and from Europe, Italy mainly... so far no local transmissions yet ... they're flying in a plane load of South African university students stranded in China this weekend and putting them into quarantine for two weeks.
Private hospitals here very good -- public health service quite fragile and in some areas a shambles... possibly scary times ahead.

One advantage both my wife and I work from home anyway ... so social distancing/isolation won't be that hard to do ... halfway there already ;)

Yeah, bloody hard work to keep a level head and not hit panic stations with media flood of the 24 hour news cycle (and in your case official data overload) ... if you can, stay home and play wargames!

We just had the first coronavirus death in Kansas, a 70-year-old man in a long term health care facility in Kansas City, Kansas. What is bad about this is that he IS NOT one of the people in Kansas identified as being infected. There are 4 confirmed cases in Johnson County, where I live. Three of them are single men who attended a conference in Florida. All I know is that I carry Purell everywhere I go, try not to directly touch door handles, choosing to open them with my jacket sleeve and wash my hands constantly. I have always kept my distance from folks and now I am really doing that. I did go to grocery stores yesterday and there were a lot of people stocking up for a long siege. Long lines, sort of like at holiday time, except yesterday the people were nicer than at Christmas time.

I walked into a store yesterday but stopped at the entrance, it was packed with people. I couldn't help thinking that in their panic to avoid getting the virus they didn't seem to mind being squeezed together. So I went to a smaller store and waited in line to purchase my goods, some guy walked pass and stopped to blow his nose, the guy in front of me had a mini freak out.

Personally I'm not overly concerned, despite the mass media trying to have you believe that this is the zombie apocalypse, if you're healthy there's little to be concerned about, it's no worse than flu, although I understand the concern some of you may have for parents or older friends and relatives.

The only thing that slightly concerns me it's that my wife is flying over to Thailand next week to bring back our daughter (not because of CV, it was already planned), but if things go bad Australia and/or Thailand may close the borders and they'll be stuck over there for a while - an inconvenience, but nothing more.
If they make it back to Australia and look or feel even slightly ill they'll be quarantined for two weeks, again, an inconvenience but an understandable precaution given the circumstances.

We also live in a fairly remote area, less population so less chance of transmission.

Yes we should have gone to theatre on Wednesday but decided being old folk and more likely to have a nasty outcome from this so we gave it a miss..... Got one more to go to in 3 weeks
time hoping our government will put a ban on large gathering and we might get our money back

You should be self isolating and playing CM now.... in fact... do you fancy a game. :)
