Ladder Game with Top Dozen Wanted - Meeting engagement Large +

Jackal, if you'd like to play a large/huge game in CM:BN + CW according to the above rules (also no air support, no TRP) I'd have a free slot. I don't mind playing as Allies.

I'm currently playing against Wynnter as well so that's why I'm not asking him for another one :)

Ok, CMBN + CW ,ladder game, large map , day, elite level , WynnterGreen rules (+ 1 non organic arty but not rockets, nebelwerfer and naval artillery) , max 1 air asset .. Ok also for a scenario even if potentially a bit unbalanced .. Ok QB (ME or Attack/Probe/Assault ...me on defense) .. I play Axis this one.. In case of QB, select 3 maps, i choose one !

I'd rather not have any air assets, I find them overpowered in CM and not very realistic. What do you think?
Also, do we apply the 1 in 4 tanks Bigcat and no restriction for Allies? 33% max armor as well right?

Anyway, I'll take a look at available maps and try to find something suitable so you can choose from the 3 suggested.
 
Endy, I made a QuickBattle version of Evil be Unto Him.

I'll put it in our Dropbox Folder so that you can use it as a Huge Map option with Jackal.

For me it is ok to avoid any air asset (i also think they are overpowered , as naval arty, rockets (too cheap for their great power and great ammo count).
33 max armor and Wynnter excellent other rules (included 1 big cat for each 4 tanks) is ok.. allied tanks no restriction also ok.
Just one question.. if for example the total amount to spend in tanks is, say, 1000, and you can't reach the limit 3 Pz IV + 1 Panther, you can still buy at least a Panther (and maybe 2 PzIV) or you must buy 3 PzIV before each Panther (and you cannot due to limited budget ) ?
I think it's ok if you can buy the first big cat, then you're forced to buy at least three normal Tanks, before an eventual other big cat..
Do you think SP Guns (Marder, Wespe and so on) count in this rule ? (i think not) ... Do they count as armour asset, or 33% rule is applied only to real Tanks (medium/heavy tanks, light tanks (Stuart, Lynx) , and tank destroyers (m10, Achilles, Stug , Stuh and so on) ) ?
No TRP if ME battle.
Eventually i like also to be on defense side (yes i know it is a difficult affair) in an attack/assault/probe scenario..
Choose the type of battle you like most!
 
Just to clarify the BigCat Rule a little Jackal, but of course you can negotiate anything you like for your game with Endy.

All vehicles that are ONLY available in the Amour Single Vehicle or Armour Formations count towards the 33% Armour Restriction.
So that includes Marders, SP Guns etc.
However, armoured vehicles that can be purchased elsewhere, such as PSW Puma, or SPW Halftracks that can be purchased from the Mechanized Infantry Single Vehicle tab, can be purchased without counting to the 33% Armour allocation.

The rule is also that you must purchase three non Armour assets before purchasing your first BigCat.
This means that your 4th Tank can be BigCat, then your 8th, 12th etc.

In your example with 1000 Points to spend on Armour you could purchase:
P-IV
P-IV
Marder
Panther
For a total 931 Points // Regular Experience.

In a Huge battle Endy and I found that we could purchase an Average of 10 Tanks with the 2400 Points available to Armour Allocation.
That would mean two BigCats, which seems to be pretty well balanced in game terms.

Sounds good Jackal263. As it seems you want to be on the defending side, we will make it an QB American Attack in the Italian Theatre of War. I fully agree on "WynnterGreen rules" including 1 non organic arty, no preplanned arty missions for the defender, no Aircraft. And I think wynntergreens definition of vehicles falling in the 33% armor rule is reasonable and I would like to stick with that. If it is ok for you, I will choose 3 maps you can choose from and will set up a dropbox folder and invinte.

BTW: Great agreements and proposals in this thread about specifically setup rules to balance gameplay and further enhancement to the gaming experience. Really interesting. But I guess I am in need of a Combat Mission specialised Lawyer to help me sorting out all the rules....Just kidding. It`s a good lesson to a new PBEM player as sure you all got your Lessons Learned and now I can greatly profit from this knowledge to set up good, fair fights.
 
jackal263 basically what Wynnter wrote :) So any SP guns, Marders etc count to the 33% limit and to the 1/4 Bigcat rule. Also, you can buy armored cars or halftracks freely - within reason of course, please don't make a full force of HT's :) - and they don't count to the 33% armor limit.
I'll try to suggest some maps soon.

Strachwitz - what I found is that the best games and most enjoyable tend to be the ones that have some agreements implemented on gameplay terms. If course it's impossible to balance different equipment completely, it would also be boring to a degree, but making some limits on Bigcats for example or limits on total armor serve both to make the armies a bit more realistic and more fun to play with. It assures you don't see then stuff like 20 Tigers and a platoon of infantry on one side and that would not make a good game as well. Games with half the points spent on artillery would not be fun either.
Anyway, I find pre game agreements between players very important so that both sides enjoy the game and nobody feels he lost the game in purchasing the army phase already because he brought the wrong counter to the other guy's setup or that he wants to give up on turn 2 because his oponent brought only Tigers and you got no armor or only a few Shermans 75mm.
 
Thanks WynnterGreen for your additional info (i missed previously the detail of mechanized infantry asset).. For the 33% rule it was clear to me that each Tank and SP Gun and tank destroyer count, it was not so clear the rule of the 1/4 for the "big cats",, i believed that in the count i had to consider only real Tanks or Tank Destroyer.. but it seems that also SP Gun count (anyway, to not fail, i will apply it to real tanks and tank destroyer only) ... and that the big cat purchasing must be made AFTER the first three normal tanks... Perfect now it's clear and i find it correct.

Endy : i really prefer not abuse HT in my force selection ... i find battles more fun to play with main force mostly composed of infantry units. I will wait for your map selection. (or if you like even for pre made scenarios.. they are pratically all "new" for me)

Strachwitz : perfectly agree with all you said. It seems that you want Allied in this attack/assault battle .. Just a question : are TRP allowed and (if YES) is there a maximum number of TRP ? Obviously another rule : the defender (in this case my force) cannot target the attacker setup zone (i can extend this rule to the whole battle, not only to first 5 min.) (unless the attacker uses that terrain for offensive purposes .. for example deploys there mortars / SP Gun / Tanks or MG there that are used to provide suppressive fire on defender positions). I will wait your map choice .. have a great battle!
 
jackal263: I also perfectly agree with your proposals :). So no targetting on attacker setup zones unless used for attacking purpose. I think a restriction of TRPs is not necessary. Especially for the defender I think. He should have plnety of time preregistering arty. Maybe attacker (me) should be limited somehow. But I really don`t know to how many. 5 maybe?

Hi, i looked at all 3 maps.. they are all Ok for me...
If i must choose one, probably i suggest map 418 (it is smaller, this could be good or bad at the some time) ...
map 295 is also very interesting, but i think the river could be a serious advantage for the defender... but i have the original 295, not the modded one... so maybe the modded one doesn't have this obstacle or at least it is reduced...
map 024 is more open, but also very interesting..
Really it is a difficult choice.. I leave you the final decision.. all very interesting in my opinion.

Just a question : what year/month have you selected for the battle ?.. i remember (and i agree) that you wanted a fight in the snow.. So i can give a look at OOB for that particular month.. I will probably use Luftwaffe (mixed force) .. i want to see in action the "green devils".
5 TRP for huge map, 3 for Large (for the attacker) ... i suggest this limit... obviously you can order preplanned artillery strike at the battle start. Confirmed No Airplanes and all rules as discussed in previous post.
1 h + 15 min seems a good battle lenght ... what do you think ?
 
Then we try it with map 418 with large forces in winter condition with light snow. Could get interesting due to vehicle bogging problems. But I guess I have to deal with that, as weather in quite unpredictable these days ;-). I will make it February 1944. So take a look at the OOBs and write me if you want Luftwaffe or Heer. BTW: I want to see them in action also. The green devils. Maybe against my red devils. Who knows....1h 30 min also ok for you? Because of the severe weather conditions I have to commence my attack a bit slower not rushing with tanks due to bogging.
 
Ok for map 418, light snow, 1h 30 min. Just keep rarity as strict or standard to get more realistic OOB!
I will keep Luftwaffe to (probably) see in combat German Fallshirmjagers.
I wait for your DB invitation and for the first file. Keep in mind i don't use H2H (for now)

Take your time as unit purchase and initial setup is crucial....
 
File in dropbox.. i renamed it .. because your first file was without nnn suffix... So my first file ends with ..001 .. Hope you see it even using H2H helper
 
I can see it. Albeit I have H2HH I am not acuallyt using as there are problems using it on two different computers. I will look into it later and send you the file back. I curious to see this battle in the snow!

In previous experiences i noticed that renaming dropbox folder also creates problems ... but it shouldn't be the case for our game.
 
I see a folder called Strachwitz v Jackal263 with the file Strachwitz V Jackal263 QB 001.ema in it. I guess this is correct. Seems to work properly :)
