Mech Warrior Online

Its going to take me a bit to get this game sorted out. I am not finding any documentation as in a manual...is there one and I just have missed it ? This game looks extraordinarily good with a fairly steep learning curve. Been reading my way through the forums for info.

Wicked Pete, eniced73 and 7thcav:

Will try to add you to my friends list, maybe we can do some drops together?
So far I'm only doing random drops, would like to get a little bit more organised.
Sounds good. As getting dropped in against pre-made's is killing me. Team always goes 0-8 with no chance without organization. You get lucky sometimes but not often from what I am seeing. I will also add all of you guys to mine.

Just ask questions here or while in game. Someone will usually answer if you ask. Facman is pretty much the authority on this here so he is probably a wealth of knowledge on this game.

I know of no Manual for the game. I will answer any questions as best I can. Otherwise, just Google what you are looking for. It would be far simpler if you used Teamspeak3 as that is a free download to run the client. Then we could meet online and answer questions directly.

Sent you an friend invite today!
I did too, it will be from Coyotebrother.

Yes, it is a deadly game if you are in it alone. Get your commo up and find a home.

Even with a roster of more than 60 players, I can't always find Aces in the game. When that happens, I have to play with no commo as well. and it sucks to be a Pug (random public player) in the games current iteration. There are plans to change the 'Matchmaker' soon, as they are getting too many complaints from folks who aren't in a merc company, who are getting run over by 'Pre-made teams'. They have plans to make changes several times in the near future as they try to balance play. So even if you get a headset, you will still need to find a merc company, in order to experience the depths that are available in the game.

Wicked Pete and I spent a good part of Sunday dropping with the Aces. He's in his tricked out Hunchback now and if his length of time playing yesterday is any indication, he had a good time. I enjoyed having another mate along and look forward to doing it again.

Well day one is in the books, ended with enough cash to buy a medium mech with a bit of a reserve. I figure I will wait a day or two to build up more of a reserve and a bit more for updates, would like to have the equivalent of the cost of the mech in reserve. So now the big question becomes a Hunchback or a Centurion ? obviously the Centurion being as its one of the trial mechs I am growing use too and the Huntchback is an unknown. The Centurion is slightly better armored out of the box but the Huntchback has a firepower advantage. Both will need some tweaking the Centurion more so then the Huntchback or so it appears.

Thanks to Facman for passing along this addiction !! :)

I have teamspeak installed currently using TS3 but don't have Vent.

Game Note...
When using the pilot skill tree to improve your skills, I suggest that you do not use your GXP to purchase skills. You will need it later, as some of the later Pilot Modules require stiff quantities of the GXP, better to save it from the start. I didn't and wish I had.

I don't really understand this point. GXP seem to accumulate independently of Mech / Model specific XPs. I can see how you can exchange XP into GXP (by spending MCs). I can only see three skills available in the Pilot Tree so far and those are all very expensive.

I currently own a Hunchback 4J, which is an LRM boat (2x LRM10 with 3 slots of ammo). It also has 4 Medium Lasers.
In the LRM role, I'm quite comfortable with this Mech. In the close combat role, I've got some heat problems, but usually I'm fine.
So far, I'm quite satisfied with my Hunchback, but I'm already looking to get another Mech as well.

Yes, it does and is harder to build up than the individual Mech XP, thats why I caution you to spend it only when you have to.

In the Aces, I am in the Diamonds Div. We are the long range & indirect support arm of the Aces. This suits my play style quite well. There are 3 other divisions as well, Spades (scouts/raiders), Clubs (brawlers) and Hearts (cavalry)

Here is a link to the Blazing Aces Field Manual, which gives a rundown on the unit, it's structure, history and leadership.

Learning to manage your heat takes some time. If you balance out your weapon groups and practice trigger discipline it will help out a lot.

This has become a full blown addiction ! :) My current mechs are an up-gunned Cicada CDA-3M and a stock Centurion CN9-D.

To those unfamiliar with BTech...
Pics are not to scale as Centurian is 50 ton & Cicada is 40 ton

Im on it daily. I have played with Mad Mike, 7Th Cav & Eniced73 at various times. Since it's 'Free to Play' it won't cost you anything but time, to see if you like it. I highly recommend that you have a headset and mic, to experience it in it's best form. Mad Mike has found a German Team to join, while 7th Cav has applied to join the Team I play with, The Blazing Aces.
