Operation Konrad - Round 5 Thread

Progress update:
@Guardsman vs @Gorst - File 55
@Guardsman vs @Aurelius - File 50
@Drifter Man vs @Monty's Mighty Moustache - File 14
@dkchapuis vs @Spoogles - File 15
@Brille vs @Bleskaceq - File 29
@Cargol vs @jackal - File 16

Holidays are upon us, and some have let me know that they will be out for much of the rest of the year after this week. Therefore, it is likely we won't finish this round until end of January. After January 1, I'll get aggressive about slow play and take people's turns for them if they aren't maintaining a good turn rate. I'm not going to push that before January 1 as I am busy myself and I have not yet recovered the moral high ground after "ghosting" the campaign earlier in the year :oops:.
For those who will be waiting, I may have more Red vs Red test matches for the CMSF2 campaign that I continue to polish.

Since over here we live and venerate by the Julian calendar, I will have significantly reduced presence for the first two weeks of January.

None of this should be an issue, since Guardsman and I are in the final phase of the battle.

Always ready for more Red vs Red matches!

i dont know how @Cargol is about it, but in my turnrate would be no change maybe a little faster than usually

It all depends on how hectic work will be at that time of the year. I will try to keep a decent pace though and if there is a longer absence I will notify beforehand.

Btw if you're looking for more testers, I'd be happy to participate. Haven't had much chance to play as the Reds in mp SF yet.

Hello all!!!!
I had a question from @jackal and @Cargol regarding whether or not overtime should be played out, and wanted to respond to it in the general thread so everyone could see the response and rationale.

Overtime - if granted - should be played out.

The rules were never updated to explicitly say this (my bad), but I did state this in a Rules Thread post way back on April 26, 2023. (I'm not expecting anyone to remember that, and I had to go looking to find it :) ). For those prior rounds and battles where the question has come up, my cursory search shows that I have requested extra time to play out. That said, there are inconsistencies in how maps have been set up, with many maps marked "No Extra Time," and a few (like the map Jackal and Cargol are playing) marked as "0-5 minutes extra time." That map is 2 years old now (!) and I don't recall whether I had a specific rationale due to map size, or if it is just an error. I also know that regardless of the settings, sometimes the game grants extra time.
All that said, I think the precedent is for it to be played out, so I will stand by that and endeavor to double-check the maps for any future rounds.

Thanks for asking for the clarification, Jackal and Cargol.

@OnePingOnly, I saw it thanks. It is a pity that there is inconsistency in how the battles are designed. For example in my round two battle (you can check it if you like), my opponent just rushed two men in the objective (which I held with a Plt+) on the final round and no extra time was played as it was not included in the scenario design. That granted him a draw which as we see now how the tourney evolved it was a really important battle. That last minute rush was perfectly fine as last minute rush is also in the game. However, if extra time was planned, then the outcome would have been totally different. Moreover, no extra time was played in any of the other Budapest battles. In my opinion, if you would like to be consistent with the precedent then in Budapest battles no extra time should be played. Of course you are the GM and we play as you say.

There is a strong likelihood that map settings have no effect on overtime in QBs. There may be some algorithm or it may be random.
