Hello, everyone. I'm the new recruit.

I've been playing Combat Mission Battle for Normandy since April 2012. I'm a Johny-come-lately to CM but have been a serious enough wargamer for a much longer while. I learned of CMBN by an off-hand reference in an old PC Gamer magazine article. Then I found and played the demo for months. It took that long to get past the learning curve before deciding to purchase the game. Watched the Armchair General videos to understand a bit more. I really enjoy this game and would argue it is the best WW2 tactical computer game ever. I've been playing it exclusively for the past two years (although I do miss Total War and wish real life would allow some time for Shogun2). I currently own CMBN (CW & MG) and CMFI (GL). I'm still running version 2.12, waiting for version 3.0's first patch to come out. My small contribution to CMBN so far is re-working EZ's US Uniform mods to be version 2 compatible. You can find those in the Battlefront repository. I play solo for now mostly because real life makes me an unreliable opponent for H2H. I look forward to when that might change.

I decided to join FGM after watching some of Ithikial's Youtube videos and noticing his "Combat Mission Victory Calculator" post at Battelfront Forum. Why did I notice? I would like to create scenario's for the Combat Mission community. Jon Sowdon's tutorial is excellent but Ithikial's and "Peramublator's" youtube's are extremely helpful in "showing" me what Sowdon describes. I'm keen to utilize scenario development tools.

Why FGM? I see that FGM has a well founded set of scenario design forums and appears to have a supportive community. I would like to learn how to create good scenario's. I'm specifically interested in creating good scenario's from the wide selection of already researched Squad Leader / Advanced Squad Leader situations. I have some ideas for making that work. Time (and, hopefully, some of you guys) will tell if those ideas are any good.

So for now, I'm interested in FGM's scenario Design, Development, and Testing processes. I look forward to seeing where things might lead. Until then, good luck and good gaming!

Greetings and welcome.

Hello Badger, welcome to THE FEW GOOD MEN!
Good to have you with us! :)

Nice speech, recruit - but I can assure you that you don't know anything about playing Combat Mission yet. ;)
Combat Mission is at it's best when played head to head (H2H) - this is completely different from playing against the AI - you should try that! ;)

But I'm also curious to play your scenarios! Great that you will enrichen our download/scenario section.

Enjoy the club and become a part of our community - there are many reliable gaming partners here, plenty of stuff to
check out and good people to meet. :)

Good luck to you. And don't be put off the H2H - it is infinitely better than playing the ai - as people do the strangest things...

No time to learn like the present mate - jump in and enjoy.
