Strange Stuff

Has been Fleet Week in San Francisco this week. That means the annual stalking of the surrounding skies by the Blue Angels.
We went out on the Bay several years ago to get a good view and it was awesome.

Dammit, but that's a big freakin' dam.

Nice pics. (y)

“The last eruption of Mount Vesuvius took place in 1944. It is still active, but is in a state of repose, according to the Vesuvius National Park website.”

Still seems to me a bit of rolling the dice to live so close around the base like that.

As a fan of the world's weird, strange, and bizarre places, I love this story. When the Nezahualcoyotl reservoir dropped 80 feet last month in Mexico, a bizarre 16th century church emerged from its slumber in the depths below. Lovecraft would call this a 'Black Church', and of course it would be the cursed home to all manner of evil.
Soon, the waters will consume it again, and it will return to its state of dream sleep below the crashing waves, waiting for what, I don't know, but buildings like this don't die, they just bide their time.
So creepy.
