The Battle of Capracotta - CMFI QB campaign

That big explosion at the airfield was my Priest. Catastrophic hit on the main gun caused an instant detonation of the ammo. Crew reduced to a fine Pixeltruppen mist.

While my advance on Veroli continues, spotting of defending Germans gathers more information. I'm looking at at least 4-5 MG-42 nests and now, two supporting Marders.

The resilient PaK is still racking up kills! But, if the AT gun didn't get my Sherman, the Panther that came in close to play probably would have.

Extra rations of beer and bratwurst and iron crosses all round for that PAK crew!

Yeah, with my hapless infantry melting away, had to bring in the big bad boy for some closer support...

Great images everyone, it's like being right there with your pixeltruppen as they're getting shredded to pixels.

Interesting point about foxholes not providing protection unless the troops are hiding. I'm reluctant to believe that foxholes do not reduce exposure against small arms fire. But I can put that to a test. One more test series won't hurt...
I do confirm the experience though that hiding greatly reduces casualties from artillery, including from the big guns.

Always prefer my screen shots at "grunt" level if possible

I'd love to see that test. The only thing I'm sure about is foxholes protecting from artillery when hiding. But my feeling from playing a lot of CM over the years is that foxholes provide next to no protection against small arms.

Would like to be proven wrong on that, as I believe troops in foxholes should have a pretty big advantage over troops in the open..

If possible, a test could be divided into regular infantry, small crewed weapons (HMGs, mortars) and AT-guns.

And once again... artillery firing linear mission on TRP's scheduled to arrive at 7 minutes ... 10 minutes into battle, still not firing ... second battle this is happening... spotter is not disrupted...

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out what is going wrong here... I never noticed anything like that.

7 minutes with a TRP seems a long time.. what guns are you trying to fire?

Battery 75mm light howitzers ... I set it at 7 minutes to allow his infantry to get into the firing zone -- now they're most likely all past it ... it I reset the fire it'll be like 12 minutes delay or something -- by this time I'll be overrun.

Hmm... 75mm guns don't usually take a long time to fire, especially not when using TRPs.
