That fort across the river looks like Ivangorod, and the Russian caption 'Hapbe' could translate as 'Narva'

EDIT:- Yes, Russian-speaking FGM members Mehlsack and Sempai confirmed it is Narva..

Exact "Hapbe" should translated as "in Narwa". Even without "B" (what means "in/at") the flection of "Hapba" shows how it is meant. I should really relearn the russian language. - Sorry POS! I want only to ... . What is the verb for wisenheimer/Smart Ass???

German map of Narva kindly sent to me by John Calvin from his website, date in top right corner seems to indicate 1941.
(The Germans spell it Narwa)

Difficult with angled bridges more likely, I got my work cut out. I am working on the eastern bank of the town. I've been using the modern google map of Narva, where a lot of the old buildings have been destroyed. I got sent an old map of the district which helps, and all I have to do is make some adjustments.

PS- Google Earth is a useful mapping tool if we zoom down to ground level like below, so we can get a good 3D idea of where the low and high ground is, providing we select 'Tools> Options> Terrain exaggeration'.
Here I've set it to maximum exaggeration so the hills jump out more, but in real life the terrain is not quite so hilly.

My internet is so slow I wouldn't have the patience to do that. I like to use topographical feature.
