CMBN : THE CROSSROADS AT MONTHARDROU AFTER ACTION REPORT

Awesome story Lawrence! I love reading an AAR like this. Keep up the good work ;)

Thanks Dutch Grenadier, lots of action still to play, luckily I've had some free time the last few days to pump out a few of these. Plus the fact that it's an absolute blast to make these helps keep the rate up.

Continuing the adventures of Sarge's beleaguered soldiers:

I wonder if there's a trick to drawing good binoculars in paint. There's no circular/oval shaped select tool which makes it more difficult. I found a technique that works OK that I'm using in the next "episode".
I would recommend Pixlr http://pixlr.com/editor/
I'm calling it online photoshop, it has a lot's of options, layers and so, and don't need to install anything.

Ah, thanks propuh, checked it out, lots of options, and a circular select tool. Nice.

Situation map : 15 minutes in, 55 + left to play.

Reinforcements have arrived, in strength.

The assembly area is an absolute logistical shambles:

That Panther is a real thorn. I've called down 60mm mortar fire right onto of him, maybe I'll get lucky and strike a cupola hit.

Thankfully, only the one casualty... Saw the spot round and huffed it outta there just in the nick...

The Panther on my left flank has total overwatch over all my avenues of advance.

Knocking it out is absolute top priority. Losses are acceptable to take it out:

Turkey Shoot...

Two for one... Brutal.

Addendum: I would withdraw the survivors of this attack under the cover of smoke. Time to lick my wounds and rethink my plan.

But how on earth do I dislodge this foe?

He's survived:
- 3+ minutes 75mm area fire right next to him.
- Several top hits of 60mm mortars.
- Many calibers tank round, all ricochets.

All my avenues of approach are covered by this guy, any general attack is impossible until he's dead... How the heck man, what's the solution here? No heavy arty is available, so that's not an option...

Thoughts anybody?

You must get flank shots right? Well, make him move. With smoke. Blind him so his position is worthless, he will move, then you jump.
If he doesn't move, use his blindness to maneuver.

Haven't seen him budge an inch the last few minutes, so pretty sure his tracks were busted up during all that area fire.

I could dedicate a few shermans to maintaining a smoke screen while the others race to protected positions... Could do.
