CMBN : THE CROSSROADS AT MONTHARDROU AFTER ACTION REPORT

Now binoculars looks great.

Thanks again for the url propuh.

Very nice DAR!! I actually wanted to read more and more. Most of the time I read an AAR or DAR I get 2 or 3 posts in and move on. Kudos for being very innovative. I never seen anyone present one in this fashion.

Thanks eniced73, I wanted to do something a little bit different. Convey the battle as a series of action packed moments rather then just a breakdown of causal events. More visceral.

Very enjoyable AAR. Keep up the good work.

Thanks nathangun, will do.

Recon by death... Never pretty.

SO. 2 Panthers on the field. In perfect supporting position, this last one covering the flank approach to the first... Fiendish I tell you... Absolutely fiendish.

oh, and sorry for cursing, I don't know the forum rules about it, can edit the pics if I need to, but that's exactly what I was saying as I replayed this turn, over, and over again...

Really impressed to see an orderly withdraw by the AI. Never saw that in CMx1.

So, while the smoke screen lasts, the attack can proceed, as fast as possible.

News from the right flank to come soon.

This DAR really tells how terrible war is with the beheading of a soldier by an 75mm shell.
But great story to read!

Bootie
I say give this man a storytelling ribbon :)

ps: I have some wifi access. ;)

Thanks, Lawrence for for DAR and all that effort it took to do.
I for one, is cheering your efforts to flank those nasty Germans and the two panthers.
Funny thing about CMBN armor vehicles, is every hit that doesn't penetrated, does some other type of damage, like optics, radio, and main gun knock out. An opponent of my, show me the power of 60mm mortars, by immobilizes two of my STUIII with about 10 rounds each of 60mm. Cheap way to put the hurts on ones armor.
Good luck

Thanks guys, will keep them coming.

That's what surprised me about the resilience of that first Panther. Tons of area fire right next to it, several direct 60mm mortar hits to the top, and yet he still refuses to abandon his vehicle. I've got to figure he's immobilized FOR SURE from the area fire, with severe damage to various sub-systems from the mortars... His main gun still works just fine though, just fine... ;) update to follow later tonight.
