Did you see the Stanford University coronavirus antibody study where they estimate that 50 to 85 times the number of reported cases have been exposed to coronavirus based on the findings of antibodies in their study group. So according to the CDC this morning there are a little over two million cases of coronavirus reported worldwide. If Stanford is correct, that means 100,000,000 to 170,000,000 million have been exposed. If that many people have the antibodies for the disease as the study speculates, that means the deaths as reported this morning at about 83000 worldwide divided by the low end (100 million) would be about .00083%, which I hate to tell you, is way below the death rate for the flu. Of course, this is just a preliminary study but it's been reported that some people test positive for the disease but then have no or very minor symptoms. So it's just one more thing to think about.

I stand by it 100%, but just decided this thread isn’t for me anymore. Too much un-needed aggrevation.
You know, during these times, we need a real leader. The problem is that a very qualified person doesn't go into public life anymore because you get put under a microscope and nobody needs that bullshit. This is what you get when your country has devolved into rancorous partisanship. And this is what you get when you have a whole spectrum of unqualified media "journalists and experts" throwing their 2 cents in during the 24 hour a day news cycle.

Let's take into account how the media is portraying the whole travel ban thing. The media is saying now that the administration did not act fast enough to enact a travel ban. As you recall the administration acted pretty damn quick in banning travel to and from China and Asia. But think back, when that happened the administration was branded "racist, enacting racist" policies. So in my estimation, the media is the problem, plain and simple, because it's damn easy to say "shoulda, coulda, woulda" after the fact while conveniently forgetting that not 3 weeks ago you were ballyhooing your anti-administration rhetoric by playing the race card. If you are an American and can't see through all this bullshit, then yes, our country is well and truly screwed.

Its not just your press - they are like that everywhere.

Damnit HOA :ROFLMAO:

Your first paragraph is absolutely, and I mean absolutely, perfect. Why oh why didn’t you just end it there:). Then you did the second hyper partisan paragraph, taking only the administration‘s side.

I am not taking the administration's side, I am using the second paragraph to illustrate how the media works. How can an administration not have acted decisively enough when in fact when they did act quickly they were labeled "racist"? I don't care what your political bent is, that's outright bullshit and media bias. The media serves up the "Kool Aid", I just chose not to drink it.

In my assessment, I do not think that the Administration acted decisively enough, but that's my opinion. I do not agree with a LOT of what the Administration does. But if you are worried about my political bent, I voted Libertarian and have several times, except maybe when I voted for Perot. I think both major political parties are worthless and try to vote for candidates that I feel will do the least amount of damage to the US and Constitutional law.

I’m not worried about anyone’s political bent (well, I do dislike extremists of any flavor). We seem pretty similar actually. At least you clearly think through your positions. I try to do that as well.

You're a good man, Wellsonian. Just don't drink the "kool aid" and keep an open mind. Even I get tired of wading through the bullshit...but I know that if I don't look at both sides of the story I can't figure out what's going on.

Gents,
Glad to see that exchanges of views and differences of opinion can be discussed in an orderly manner.
Lord knows hindsight is a wonderful thing but this dilemma has us all in a spin and hopefully once the roundabout finally comes to a stop we will still have our wits about us, and enough common sense to get back on an even keel as quickly as possible.
Steve
