I'm pretty sure I bought these when I was a child. Those ads in the back of comic books were golden. I know for a fact I bought the Revolutionary War miniature set. Cheap Red and Blue plastic (poorly made) soldiers. I wore out my rubber band gun on them while creating a whole miniature battle rule set designed to make sure I always won.

Did you ever get the Sea Monkeys? Those were cool. Nothing but brine shrimp, but the kit they sent actually worked.

Update:

Met with the administrator today. As far as keeping my job, yes. Apparently, a "furlough" is a completely different thing than being "laid off" or fired. A furlough just means a temporary cessation of work. I am still employed and subject to being called back at any time. In the meantime, I keep my insurance benefits, seniority, etc. My employer will also automatically enroll me with the state of Tennessee for unemployment compensation as well as the extra $600 a week from the federal CARES stimulus package. We should be fine. First time since 1983 that I haven't earned a paycheck though. That's a blow to the old pride. I know why I was in the second round of "furloughs" however. I'm probably one of the highest paid employees in my department, because I've been doing my job for 32 years. It only makes sense to furlough the higher paid employees during tough times, quality of work be damned.

@Buckykatt I did take the bike out for a twenty mile spin today. :)

I have to say If I were still working I’d be more than happy to take a 2-3 week furlough.

Admin told me today he had people begging him to be furloughed. Went in the control room before going home and one of my coworkers called me a "son of a bitch". Not sure what he was talking about.......

Until the lower-paid person does a crap job, the surgeon runs with the imagery anyway, something goes wrong and the facility is on the hook for the medical malpractice lawsuit. Then that 32 years of experience won't look like a burden to them...

One would think, eh? But that is not reality. I feel certain that the caliber of work I produce is of high quality (and it better be, given my pay and experience), and that notion has been communicated to me on several occasions, by both management and the doctors I work with.

But no. Quality is definitely taking a back seat to quantity, where I work. Not that I am slow. I'm pretty damn fast at producing "acceptable grade" work. It is what it is., and I understand how things go.

Thanks @Wellsonian, further down the (International) Total Death list it shows this (which I think are county's of their respective states?):

The fact that Hooters hasn't launched a home delivery service called Knockers
seems like a missed business opportunity to me.

As posted earlier in this thread, Oregonians aren’t wasting time with Hooters. We get our deliveries straight from strippers.

Well in our rush to get out from under our various state lockdowns, I find a whopping 2 column inch story buried in my local newspaper about how the coronavirus is re-surfacing in the city of Harbin in China. This after they relaxed their lockdown a couple of weeks ago. This bug is pernicious and is going to be an ongoing problem until they come up with a vaccine.

Sorry, it wasn't what I wanted to hear either...
