Great movie scenes.

Interesting observations.

There have been several movies and especially series that I have abandoned in the recent past because of this.
Off the top of my mind, The 100 stands out as a sci-fi series that held great promise for me, but quickly devolved into extreme temper tantrums.
Admittedly, the characters were quite young...but they were portrayed as psychotic brats making increasingly unbelievable decisions.

Good observations - gave up very quickly on Star Trek Discovery for example - besides silly characters and idiotic plot devices (we have drive that allows us to instantaneously go anywhere in the vast galaxy - how utterly convenient) also so much of the dialogue seems to be lifted from Hallmark greeting cards and Facebook motivational memes.

Another example of bad sci-fi writing...
I'm a fan of The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead series (I am drawn to post apocalyptic fiction for some reason - go figure). :sneaky:
They have gone through some drastic changes of writers I think.

The Walking Dead went from fairly good character development and stories, then to ultra-violence as a crutch, and now seems to be written by grade-school students.
Extremely shallow and uninspired plots and dialogue that diminishes the characters.

Is it that much trouble to come up with new stuff or to retain good writers? Sci-fi has so much creative scope too.
I could come up with dozens of new plot-lines, that don't rely on clashes with psychotic gangs.
I'll bet part of the problem is good writers aren't getting paid properly. But they are the key to a good story.

Couldn’t agree more, I stopped watching a few seasons ago
