To whet your appetite, here is the Campaign Board prior to initial orders:

More info coming, but based on orders given, the map will be updated with Budapest deployments and Reserve deployments, and then we will start the Quick Battles!

Again, many thanks to @Rico for the map and counters. They are spectacular!!!!

Just for reference, below is an approximation of how far the Germans actually advanced during the three attempts to reach Budapest, spearheaded by the 3rd and 5th SS Panzer Divisions.
The Germans definitely have their work cut out for them to do better.

Both sides should note that the two "Private" threads are not yet private. I've asked the Admins to limit access to the designated participants on each team (and me), and will let you know when this is done.

After that, I will issue instructions for how to really get started on Round 1. :)

Help me understand unit selection please. So i was looking at the Vertes Mountain track. Germans get 23 Pz div. So then i look at table 4 and it says:

Vertes Mtn 23 Pz Div Arm Inf + Pz IV Arm Inf + Jpz

Then I go into QB selection for Jan 45, and I see all of this. I know I have to spend 60% on the core battalion, but which one of these is the core:

If you choose to fight with Bn A you go for Arm Inf + Pz IV. That means you can choose any formation indicated in Table 6 under Arm Inf + PZIV.
The same applies for Bn B only you opt for JgPz instead of PZIV . You spent at least 60% on the core and then you buy the rest from the eligible units/vehicles.

I see that in the rules. but which of the formations in my screen shot are "Arm Inf"?

See Table 6:
“Armored Infantry”: PzGrenadier Bn 44 (arm), PzGrenadier Bn (KG), Pz Aufklarung Bn 44, PzGrenadier Bn A (Pz Bde), PzGrenadier Bn B (Pz Bde), PzDiv Escort Coy 44, (may also purchase any halftrack, Armored Cars, SPG, AA vehicles, and/or Trucks)

That's basically the first 10 formations from the top.

Thanks. I missed that table!!

VIII C 3) TRPs may be purchased for all battles. [no limits are mentioned]
VIII D 1) Pre-Planned Artillery & Air
a. Attackers may use pre-planned artillery and Air for Attack and Probe battles
b. Both sides may use pre-planned artillery and air for Meeting Engagements, however pre-planned artillery and air may NOT fire into set-up zones.

I suggest moving this into the private thread to talk about specific choices, unless it is part of your propaganda & disinformation campaign :)

The TRP and pre-planned stuff is something all sides should know, so I thought it was useful here. I assume I’m not the only person that hasn’t read all of the rules.

I will move further talk into the private chat where we will plan the destruction of the evil Russian hordes!!!

I agree

Thanks @Drifter Man for answering the questions!
It was a tedious afternoon at work, so I had to...um...work :) .
I can just kick back, have a drink, and watch the mayhem!
No worries - you patiently responded to all my attempts to subvert your rulebook, now I can return the favor since I've actually read it :)
