Yes, that's correct -- and @Nathangun can play a regular Operation as well after that.

You get to carry that one over to the next turn, I believe. So it's not lost.
Does that mean I still have a spy mission still to play?
No, you can only have ONE spy mission in a campaign season.
But you can play another of your regular Operations in this move (after @chiquichops DM's you his army strength) -- the Spy Operation was a bonus.
I mean the gold. It's possible to save gold over til next year, isn't it?
Yes, you can carry over any unspent Gold into the next year.

So what's the procedure for setting up the battle?

Battle is joined at ALVA between between Catania Army I and Agrigento Army II
Either player can set up the battle -- you can agree on a map -- something Medierranean.
Armies:
Kingdom of Catania - German (Imperial) (1488-1500)
Duchy of Agrigento - Venetian (1440-1500)
When you set up the battle as per normal in FOG: Medieval, click on Hiding Advanced Options (see below)
This allows you to tweak the force level points for each army... Catania gets 1200 ... Agrigento gets 1000.
The SIEGE ARTILLERY doesn't play a role in a field battle (too unwieldy in those days)
