15 January 1534 - 3 March 1541
Earlier in the game, I decided the navy will be the strong arm of the nation and set the country on course of 'Naval ideas'.
As I now control the island of Ireland, my thoughts turn to defending the island.
My first priority is to build up a navy. So I begin the slow process of saving cash and paying for ship building.
Luckily, the merchant class have rallied around and gave to the government 3 Carrack's (heavy ships) as a token of appreciation for keep the trade routes secure.
On the 8 August 1538, England becomes Great Britain. Will this become the mighty empire it once was?
But the transition doesn't go smoothly, in Whales there are uprisings but these don't last long.
After my gift of warships I go on diplomatic offensive and try to improve relations with Scotland and on the 28 October 1538 I 'Proclaim Guarantee' to Scotland's (or should I say the Western Isles) independence.
This move prompts Scotland to offer a Royal Marriage and I accept. Then by the 27th November 1538 a alliance is then formed and by the 9th February 1539, Scotland becomes a Vassal.
This doesn't go unnoticed by Great Britain, and on the 9th April 1540 Great Britain declare war and the conquest of the Western Isles as their 'Casus Belli'.
Austria, Great Britain's ally, soon join in.
Several weeks later battle is joined and my navy take on a British squadron...
....and win.
17,000 British troops move into Highlands of Scotland, preparing to assault the Western Isles, but I have stationed a naval squadron there to keep invading armies at bay.
Note in the screenie below the red dotted line from the Highlands to the Western Isles, armies don't need naval transport to cross but a navy can still block them.
My navy have scored another victory against the British !
17,000 stranded British troops in the Orkneys.
