You already found out that if you run full throttle + WEP too long, you overheat your engine and if nothing is done you soon fly like a brick...

I know that. It is not important in critical situations (screenshots does not represent critical situations)

@ POS : Nice first carrier landing, at least you hit the deck. But should I remember you that at the time of WW2 they did not have a drone with a camera behind them... You should try again in cockpit view. For info some carrier planes like the F4F and F6F at least have a special "seat high" view ( Alt S on my key setup) which allows you to see a little better above the nose and makes things a little easier... I am still crashing on the back of the deck sometimes, mainly by lack of practice as I don't like flying for the Navy, missions over empty sea are generally boring...

@ zaraza: I would say that in both pictures, you are in a kind of critical situation...lol

Don't worry, i'm not newbie in simulations :)
I'm using whatever i can get from aircraft, and i always calculate risk of overheating and engine failure :)

You must be Superman then because even after 20+ years of intensive flight sims, I still get caught from time to time by a wrong prop pitch and revving too high, wrong cowl flaps setting and heating or being at the wrong compressor stage for the altitude... Hats off, man, if you always calculate everything...
After hundreds of landings in all kind of weather, I still happen to f*ck up one or two from time to time and end up outside track, without landing gear or on the nose like on POS picture...
I remember the landings in Falcon 4 had to be damn precise in terms of speed and AoA...

I'm not Superman, but i always watch on temperature and other parameters. When i'm using WEP or other exotic helpers, i'm always aware what i'm doing.
Above examples are not good. Those are screens from my games vs computer. I wouldn't allow that to happen in fight against real opponent.

I see on you guys screenshots you have plenty of information written on your screen. For info, HUDs had not been yet invented so that is plain cheating...lol If the programmers of this wonderful sim took the time to make every gauges and needles functional, it is intended for pilots to use them...

I never payed attention to those...i look only in instruments. Good thing it can be turned off with il2 stab.

My Me109 in action on the Russian front, the German press call me "Der Weisse Engel" (the White Angel)

Has been walking on some Flak, looking at the size of the holes... this is going to be a tricky landing... although the elevators look good

Plane I've bringing back to home plate with the most holes in is the IL2. That thing can take some hard damage and still fly...

Me sitting in my new office ready for the next flight... Plse note I have painted my first victory on the tail...

I don't like flying that plane so much, it has a bad habit of easily going into spins in low speed turns if you forget combat flaps ( not too bad if you have altitude...) but also into flat spins which are very difficult to get out of...

Nevertheless, it was considered to be a better airplane (under ± 6.000 meters) then the ME109. You don't/didn't have problems landing and taking off the ME109 ? If memory serves me correct, more 109's were lost during landing and taking off then in combat....

Just giving my point of view as the driver of a flight sim... I was not there during the second world war. It was considered a better plane specially for attacking the bomber flights since it had more firepower with 4 x 20mm guns and the ability of carying rockets. It was also known to have the fastest roll rate af all WW2 airplanes.

I am not being historical, this is an IL2 1946 topic. So in this fine flight sim, I personnally much prefer flying the 109, and this is confirmed by the ratio of victories with both planes. The forward view in the FW 190 is not as good and I find it less forgiving in tricky low speed situations. I never spinned a 109.
