SANTA SOFIA ... while his partner watches the flank for the enemy tank destroyers lurking about... Panther 001 goes on the prowl, ruthlessly routing the British infantry attacking the central village objective...

Meanwhile, the other Panther manages to KO the aforementioned lurking M-10 TD as well ... celebratory beers and bratwurst all round!

The 2nd Battle for FAUGLIA PASS ends in a German victory... The Cape Town Highlanders are beaten back after some brutal hill and ridge line fighting...



SANTA SOPHIA ... classic image of a Panther and Panzergrenadiers of 1st Btn, Kampfgruppe Steiner advancing to clear the secondary Casa Brassia objective of British defenders...




Meanwhile at SAN LAZZARO, the Americans fighting hard to eliminate the last stubborn SS defenders of Btn Becker ...

This PAK didn't even get a shot off before being wiped out...



A glitch in the Matrix, CM-style... "Hold still Heinz, maybe the Amerikaners won't see us.."



A US tank crewman spotted fighting with the advancing front line rifle infantry ... either the Americans are running really short of bodies to throw into the fight, or this guy is really keen to "get at 'em" after his vehicle was knocked out!

Despite the Allied loss at Santa Sophia, my Pixeltruppen fought well. I imagined a different outcome though.

This M-4 Sherman tank commander had a close call with a Panzerschreck at the end of the battle for San Lazzaro. Luckily he had an infantry team close-by for combined arms support.

After the round 2 battles, here's the situation... (from north to south)

1. Cape Town Highlanders pull back to TRIVENTO after their defeat at FAUGLIA PASSto regroup (losing 1 strength pip)

2. 5th Btn Grenadier Guards pull back to SONNINO after their defeat at SANTA SOFIA to regroup. (losing 1 strength pip)

3. SS Btn Becker pulls back to VEROLI after their defeat at SAN LAZZARO to regroup. (now reduced to 1 strength pip and can no longer attack, only defend )

Grim reading for the Brits ... the Waffen SS succumbed in the end , but seemed to give as good as they got... (sort of ... 3 AT guns they lost not listed)

I like the eye candy MODs myself! Adds to the immersion without having any effect on game play or advantages.

Played out turn 3 moves and orders...

We have two battles this turn:

1. 1 Btn Kampfgruppe Fritz attack into PONTE GALLIANO -- Natal Carabineers defending

2. 2 Btn Kampfgruppe Steiner into CAPRACOTTA (with support from 1 Btn Kampfgruppe Steiner, so it is upgraded to an Axis Attack) -- 1st Btn Scots Guards defending

After two losses, the northern Allied defenders are getting prepared for the Axis forces headed their way!

Vickers MG team deploying and checking fields of fire while a fire team moves forward to set up a skirmish position at Capracotta.


Engineers construct wire obstacles while the weapons platoon leader sends a mortar position and orientation to headquarters at Ponte Galliano.

The fighting has restarted ... CAPRACOTTA sector ... German preparatory artillery fire dropping on one of the objectives...

Obergrefreiter Schulz and his Grille assault gun have come to lend a hand in the CAPRACOTTA attack...

Snapshots from the early turns of the PONTE GALLIANO battle... in contrast to the more open CAPRACOTTA map, this is much closer, rougher terrain and densely wooded battlefield and a stream to cross...
